Sinking In

It took a little while but the shock of the gender determination has worn off and I'm enjoying dreaming of what life will be like with a little guy.

And this didn't hurt either...

I ordered a grey flannel pageboy hat this week. I saw a mom with her baby last year with one of those hats and I thought it was completely adorable, that if I had a boy I had to have. So, I bought three! One 0-3 mos and another 9-12 mos. And a tan corduroy one in 3-6 mos. I couldn't help myself. $18 bucks well spent!

This week work occupied much of my brain and emotional energy as we had to deal with an impending deadline for some of our clients. This particular deadline is an extended one by nearly three months and honestly it's really hard to have sympathy for some of these people who have known about their responsibilities all year and waited until the last possible minute. Glad this week is over.

Anyway, Marvy has been quite anxious about giving the baby boy a name. We have had two names that we have batted around for years. Well, I say we've batted them around...Marvy would say that it was a sealed deal. The first name for the first child and the second name for the second. My preference was for the name he wanted for a second son. So when my MIL and SIL started to refer to the baby as 'X', I immediately said, "Well, we haven't finalized it yet". Truthfully, I wasn't prepared for that and I just didn't like other people naming my child before I did. Marvy was disappointed because in his brain that's just what it was going to be.

He was so bummed that I wasn't there yet.

I was joking around at work and said that I should hold up a flash cards with the names and say, "Who are you baby? Kick once for Yes, and two for No."

But, like I said, the shock of the whole thing slowly wore off especially after the stressful part of the week was over, and I was able to really imagine the first name and what it meant to Marvy. At one point this week I heard in my brain, "His name is 'X'" and it made me happy.

I decided I would surprise Marvy with the news. I took on of the ultrasound photos and picked up a matte and frame. I then had below the photo, "To My Darling Husband - Introducing Your Son, _____ ______"

I had him meet me in the Park because it was a beautiful day. He opened up the gift bag and was absolutely speechless. He loved it. "Oh, how CUTE" he said. I loved looking at him. He stared at the photo for the longest time. Then he looked at me to tell me how happy he was, then he went right back to looking at the photo.

Our baby has a name and we're both happy.

Wowzers... We Saw a Little Wee Wee!

"Oh - My - Gosh"

I think that was the direct quote from me when the ultrasound technician announced, "It's a Boy".

She pointed out the boy parts, and boy were there boy parts. I'm amazed they show up that clearly so early!

My heart jumped out of my chest. And I spent the next two days in total shock. It's now official. We are going to have a son.

Our family is thrilled. This will be the first child that will carry Marvy's family name as everyone else has had girls. Marvy's grandparents were really excited about that.

And today, Marvy and I spent the first football Sunday with our son as we watched the now 5-0 Denver Broncos beat the Patriots. (heh, heh, heh)

I think I felt him fist pump a "Go Broncos".
