PPP Happens & I'll Be Bustin' Out Soon

I heart everyone's comments. Thank you so much.

If anyone has any more information on PPP leave a comment with the info. You are welcome to LFCA that. I just don't have all my wits about me to get to that point yet, so any shortcuts would be helpful. All I have is the diagnosis... I don't have anything else.

I have noticed however based on the group therapy I have received here that I must have been dealing with anxiety for a long time on my own. Aparently I suck at it.

But, know that through all of this what were two things that were always on my mind. How can I help someone else who may find themselves down this road and this will make for some facinating blog content. :o)

GREAT NEWS!!! Liv's new code name tomorrow will be Jailbird Mama. That's right. They are letting Crazy Liv out! Whoo!

I'm trying to post photos now... who know's what that will look like. Right now I'm not caring. [ Check it out folks! Therapy and medication work!!!] All the photos were from our Valentine's day. The PG pic of me was two hours after my water broke. You don't know it but, I'm wearing Depends under there. You are also looking at a sneak peak to the nursery. There's more to see but the big reveal is forthcoming. The paint job is something I'm pretty proud of. The border at the chair rail level was something I painted myself. Looks like wallpaper doesn't it?
Much more to follow...

  1. Liv: Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful son! I am so sorry you've had so much trouble since. I had terrible PPD after my son was born so I have some inclining of how difficult this can be. And how well it can all turn out in the end. Very, very best wishes to you and your family.
    Love,
    Jen

Your son is so beautiful! And tiny, wow... my chunker was never anywhere near that small. :)

  4. You were hiding depends under there? I'd never have known.
And you managed to paint that border so it looks like wallpaper? It's beautiful. Looking forward to more.
    Congrats on flying the coop!

  13. Oh goodness Liv. I'm so happy that everything with Max is okay, but I'm so sad that you have to deal with such a horrible thing as post partum. It doesn't seem fair after how hard you tried to get here. Thankfully you're getting lots of help and support. I hope you can come through this quickly.

  14. Here from LFCA. I had severe PPD after the birth of my daughter, and it was worse than anything I had to do (several years of infertility treatments including IVF) to get her here. I have embraced therapy and anti-depressants. They are wonderful things. You sound very strong, but I know that I did too during that time. It's what you hide that's so scary and ugly and shameful. You'll get through it because you have people in your life that love you and you're getting the help you need. That shows your love for your baby more than anything else. Much love.

  17. Hi my dear friend,

I'm so beyond happy that you have a beautiful son who is being taken care of wonderfully by those that love him. But I'm so sorry that you are having such a rough time. I hope you are forgiving yourself for this struggle, as it certainly is nothing of your doing. I'll be praying that healing and peace give you strength each day to make it a little further than the day before.

  21. Hi Liv!

I am here from LFCA. I haven´t suffered from PPP but I had a dear friend that did experience it. The doctors diagnosed it while it was extremely severe and unfortunatelly it didn´t end well. I still get so mad at this stupid doctors who let her go back to her home when clearly she wasn´t ready for!

You are doing the right thing girl, get all the treatment you need and as though as it may seem, stay at the hospital if you don´t feel 150% safe to go back home. The baby is fine and will be fine and now you need to focus on yourself, doing this you will be also looking out for him!

Hang in there, don´t take this lightly and believe in yourself!

YOU CAN DO IT, WE ARE SURE YOU CAN!

  22. Sending you lots of hugs, Liv. Your little guy is just beautiful and I know you can't wait to get back to him.

You are so dedicated to pump in the hospital!

When you do get home, please continue to draw on others for help with the baby, even though you'll be nursing and therefore needed so many hours of the day. Take whatever time you need for yourself. The early days are so terribly hard, even without PPD or PPP, and the hormone shifts can be just horrible. And seriously, do whatever you can to get some real sleep, even if it means pumping and having someone else get up with him. Things are soooo much worse when you haven't slept.

Hope it's all smooth sailing from here on out. I'll be thinking of you.

  23. Liv, Max is gorgeous, just absolutely breathtaking my friend, congratulations. I am so sorry you are dealing with PPP, but know that all these ladies have given the best advice and I am here to listen and give you support. Congrats on your release and best wishes for a fast, speedy recovery/disappearance of this PPP. xoxoxo

  24. I'm so sorry you've had to wrestle with PPP, but glad you got help and that you have support (here at least, and hopefully IRL).

    May you heal well!

  25. Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy. I'm so sorry that your joy is being robbed of you with the PPP. I'm glad you are getting help. I remember Dooce talking about this on her blog, going to the hospital and getting help. Heck, she wrote a whole book about it. I've read mixed reviews about the book, but it's nice to know you are not alone. Muser's Blog has links on her menu to the right on PPD resources. She also started a weekly roundup covering PPD/PMD (Postpartum Mood Disorders) blog posts. It's so important to get support and hear from those who have been through what you are going through. I wish you the best in your healing.
